Do you have mushy bananas lying around that you want to use? Would you like to make a chocolate cookie with the perfect level of sweetness? Then, this is the perfect recipe for you!!
Ready for the best part??!! – There is no sweeteners added to make it sweet – No Sugar, No Dates, No Honey, No Stevia!! Instead, the recipe has naturally sweet ingredient components – bananas, milk powder and raisins that come together into a wonderful bite.
When I was tinkering with the recipe, I was a bit nervous about the lack of sweeteners. I was pleasantly surprised that nobody in my family seemed to notice. In fact, everyone claimed it was the perfect level of sweetness (Yes!!). I asked my daughter to describe this cookie after she ate it and she said “Yummy”, “rich” and “Chocolaty”.Recipe

For people with a not-so-sweet tooth, with just the right amount of sweetness.
No sweeteners!! That means - No sugar, no dates, no honey, no stevia, no artificial sweeteners
- 1 Large Banana (smashed with a fork)
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup milk powder
- 1 tbsp Almond Butter (If AB not available, use butter)
- 1/4 cup Walnuts
- 1/4 cup Raisins
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
-
Preset oven to 350F (180 C). Mix all ingredients in a bowl. It will be like a thick batter almost.
-
Line cookie tray with parchment paper. Place 2-3 tbsp of cookie batter in a scoop placed in even intervals.
-
Bake for 15-17 minutes. Take the tray out and leave it to cool. Serve.
- I used the large US Chiquita banana - use 2 small bananas or 1.5 medium to replace the 1 large.
- Always use parchment paper while baking cookies - No wax papers or no Aluminium foils. Parchment paper has silicone - which means the cookie comes out easily without sticking.
- Always stay near the oven as it gets close to the end time (14 minutes onward). The smell is an indicator as well. You don't want burnt marks in the bottom, but you also want a well-done one.

Conclusion
This is a perfect treat to make for your family. The ‘cookie’ has protein from milk powder, almond butter and nuts. It has anti-oxidant rich cocoa powder and fiber from bananas and raisins. This is a grain-free cookie as well. A great after-school snack for the kids, or a fun treat for yourself to have with your coffee or chai.
My inspiration for this cookie comes from a banana-everything-cookie recipe I saw on Pinterest. But, my daughter was not a fan of the oats in it and so I developed the chocolate version just for her.
If you are a person who loves chocolate, but prefers subtle sweetness, then you are gonna love this recipe!! I hope you try it and let me know your feedback. Please post your comments below. As always, I look forward to hearing from you.
Hi Swetha, Found your website just yesterday when I searched for low carb desi food. wondering why i havent found your blog before! I have been eating low carb (as in lower starch, no added sugar type; not extreme keto or anythng) for past one year and still try to cook mostly desi food. I want uncomplicated food; not slogging in the kitchen kind and your cooking style seems just what I want to try. I tried this cooke recipe before heading off to work this morning (as I had one very ripe banana). I am not much of a baker but this was perfect. I subbed almond meal for wheat flour and added a tbsp of psyllium husk and 1 tbsp of coconut flour as I had no milk powder. skipped the raisin and got 5 medium cookies in 15 minutes. they taste so yummy. Next will be your insta pot saag and possible the upgraded semiya payasam! thank you
Thank you for your lovely comments and feedback…you just made my day!! Do try the ice cream recipe- that’s a top favorite of mine and the kids!! Keep visiting!!
Are they crispy?
Hi Jern, They are soft and chewy; but not crispy.
