Cooking is an essential life skill. One of the pathways to being healthy, involves being comfortable with cooking. In this day and age, kids are hyper focused on STEM activities. While I agree 100% on the importance of science & tech, I also think that we should not drop the ball on getting kids involved in kitchen and cooking.
It is not easy for busy parents to teach their kids to cook, I understand that. Kids can be confused in the kitchen by the sheer amount of ingredients and the process. But, the more comfortable they get with cooking, the more they will succeed. That’s why I have decided to offer cooking summer camps for kids in my area.
Here’s the info on cooking camps that I am offering this summer (2019). The camps will be held in the teaching kitchen at my home near Gomes Elementary school in Fremont, CA.
Contact me via phone # listed in the flyer or email me: [email protected] I look forward to hearing from you.
Fundraising for a worthy cause:
All proceeds go to a private animal shelter in Fort Collins, Colorado where our good friend, Jennifer Ronning, fosters about 20 dogs.
These include dogs that are blind, missing legs, have no teeth, etc. Jennifer is amazing and has dedicated her entire life to rescue and take care of abandoned dogs. She works very hard to take care of the dogs including constant vet visits (given their age and condition), surgeries, follow-up, etc. Through this camp, I wish to raise money for her to continue with her mission, and pay it forward in whatever capacity I can.
Above are the photos of just some of the dogs she takes care of…
With this camp, not only can your kids learn cooking, but you will also be helping out for an excellent cause!! I look forward to teaching your kids and for them to have a great time and learn an essential life skill.
EDIT – UPDATE (08/01/2019)!!
I am thrilled to report that with the summer cooking camps, we were able to raise $1200 for the animal shelter. Jennifer was thrilled with our contribution and had a list of dental and other checkups she scheduled for 3 dogs that were, otherwise, falling behind on treatment due to lack of funds.
So, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all those who attended and to you my dear readers who support this blog. You gals/guys are the best!!
