These vegan chocolate truffles are a great treat for the family – super easy to make & yummy to taste!! Flax seeds are amazing and I have written more details about its nutritive superpowers here. Flax seed flour is a very healthy flour for diabetics since it has 0 net carbs (Total carbs – fiber).
Flax has so many other health benefits too. These truffles are both delicious and an easy way to increase our flax intake. Win-Win!!
Make this easy and nutritious (no-sugar), omega 3 rich treat for your family
- 10 Dates (about 1/2 cup)
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/2 cup Flax Seed Powder
- 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
- 3 tbsp Almond Butter
- 3 tbsp Almond Flour
- Raisins (Handful)
Make a smooth date paste using a high powered blender. (Soak dates in water if you are having trouble getting a smooth paste)
Add date paste and the rest of the ingredients to a bowl and mix well. Set aside for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, the moisture gets absorbed by the flax seeds and the mixture becomes thick.
Scoop them into the shape of truffles using an ice cream scoop. Truffles are ready.
They taste even better the next day when the flavors get absorbed even more. Store these truffles in refrigerator only.
Step by Step Pictures

This is not a typical fat rich truffle. When I made it, I was worried whether the bite satisfaction will be there. But, I was surprised that the dryness of the flax actually needed the moisture from the date paste. The chocolate complemented the taste wonderfully as well.
My daughter’s friend came over to play and saw the truffles. I am a little hesitant to offer the non-sugar truffles to other kids, because I worry that they may expect a sweeter taste. To my surprise, after eating one, she asked me, “Can I have another one, aunty?” Score!! I was thrilled to hear those words.
I hope you gives these truffles a try. They are so easy to make and such a great way to include flax in your diet. Please post your comments below. I always look forward to them.
